Hi there! My name is Jessie Anderson-Berens. I am the owner and lead videographer of Palmetto Wedding Films, a wedding videography company based in Charleston, South Carolina.
Here is a little bit of background on how I got started in video production and how the company has evolved over the years…
From a young age, growing up in Boston, I always loved to film and document life. I first began creating home videos of my family with my dad’s camcorder in 3rd grade and loved making silly videos with my friends. I still have boxes and boxes of home videos in my closet to this day.
After earning degrees in Media Communications and Spanish from North Carolina State University in 2004, I began working in Raleigh, North Carolina as an assistant editor, camera operator, and production assistant at Guerrilla Productions, where I learned the basics of TV production while working on a cooking show called “Carolina Cooking.”
In 2005, I made the decision to move to beautiful Charleston, South Carolina. Shortly after arriving, I began working at Litton Entertainment as a full-time editor and producer on multiple nationally televised docu-
In 2011, Jessie I hired by Hollywood SC Studios to direct, produce, and edit the docu-reality TV series called Rescue Vet. The 13 episode docu-reality series aired on Animal Planet and Nat Geo Mundo in over 100 countries. That same year, I created my own video production company, Palmetto Coast Media, and began offering videography services for weddings, events, businesses, nonprofits, and much more.
In 2013, I co-created, co-produced, directed, filmed, and edited 13 episodes of the docu-reality TV series Give Me Shelter, featuring the Charleston-based animal shelter, Pet Helpers. The series aired on Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo, Hulu, and Animal Planet in over 100 countries.
In the years that followed, I continued to produce, film and edit various events, weddings, documentaries, commercials, and promo videos for businesses and nonprofits through Palmetto Coast Media and other production companies such as Wheelhouse Media, based in Charlotte, NC, and again for Litton Entertainment. While freelance editing for Litton, I added several more TV series credits to my resume such as Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: Family Edition, Calling Dr. Pol, The Brady Barr Experience, The Great Doctor Scott, and Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hidden Heroes.
In 2018, Palmetto Coast Media was thrilled to earn the honor of “Best Locally Produced Video” from the Charleston City Paper.
In the spring of 2020, I launched a second entity, Palmetto Wedding Films, to provide emotional, heartfelt, cinematic style wedding videography, serving couples in SC, NC, GA and beyond. Since creating our first wedding film in 2011, we have served over 130 couples through Palmetto Coast Media and Palmetto Wedding Films and have earned the award for Best of Weddings 2020 and 2021 from The Knot and Couples’ Choice Award 2020 and 2021 from Wedding Wire.
I stay quite busy operating both video production companies and freelancing for other production companies, but when time allows, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs and cat, going to the beach, cruising around Charleston on the boat, kayaking, paddle boarding, traveling and enjoying all the delicious cuisines Charleston has to offer.
I am so excited to see what 2021 has in store and can’t wait to continue to serve more couples on the most magical day of their lives!
